DR9101-CS 890608COPPELL PUBLIC WORKS MEMORANDUM June 8, 1989 TO: FROM: RE: Alan Ratliff, City Manager Steve Goram, Director of Public Storm - June 7, 1989 Between approximately 4:30 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. the storm which came over our community dropped 5.8 inches of rain. There were several problems due to the heavy rains and high winds. Public Works received numerous calls for service and/or assistance which are listed below. We understand that the Police Department also recorded similar requests which may be listed on this document as well. (~) High water in creek east of Loch Lane. Resident Barbara Lee called to express concern. Public Works and Engineering departments responded. City Engineer indicates this area will need to be reviewed (Engineer Analysis). This area wasn't add,ressed in the Arthur Anderson Study. (~15 Deforest Lift Station Alarms went off. Water Utilities ~k responded. Contacted MUD representatives and Jpent ",-approximately 4 hours assisting ~ ....... (3) Moore Road North at Town Lake Apartments flooded. Field crew responded by placing barricades and clearing storm inlet pipes. (4) Traffic signal problems at Denton Tap/East Beltline/South Beltline Road malfunctioned earlier in the day and was damaged late afternoon by the severe weather which struck the Elementary School and adjacent building on Southwestern Boulevard. (5) Street (6) Street (7) Street flooding was reported on Mapleleaf at curb. flooding on Meadow Run in the 100 block. flooding on Meadowglen in the 100 block. 8) Intersection at MacArthur and East Sandy Lake Road flooded on north side. (9) East Sandy Lake Road flooded and was barricaded from MacArthur to city limits and bridge. Primary problem was Grapevine Lake discharge via Denton Creek coupled with heavy rains. (10) Freeport Parkway Boulevard. flooded at intersection of Southwestern (11) Flooding on property at 724 Deforest Road. Primarily due to no inlet on North MacArthur Boulevard. Storm water sheet flooding across property. (Estrada's) (12) Yard flooding on property at 808 Deforest Road - Mrs. Edwards. (13) Flooding at adjacent to Skaggs. 4(14) Denton Tap Road north of Sandy Lake flooding in street. ~ flooding across property west of road draining onto pavement. (15) Drainage east of Bethel Road - Wilson's 132 Shadydale behind home on east side of street, Sheet street ditch clogged at Beltline Road at Coppell Road and intersection. Discussed this with resident at 417 (16) High water in Grapevine Creek behind 117 Meadowcreek. Don Peterson (resident) concerned; said has never seen it this high. (17) Flooding 829 Howell Street. Mrs. Chapa resident. is reviewing the problem presently. Engineering (18) Flooding in front of Golden Triangle Mobile Home Park entrance. (19) Flooding at 621 & 629 Swan. (20) Flooding on property north of Parkview Subdivision back up to resident's home on Lodge Road - Monte Freeman (21) High water in Meadows Subdivision reported resident ~(~Flooded homes on Pelican (771,767,7~ (23) Flooded driveway at 300 W. Sandy Lake; water at Whispering Hills. by Martha Day; crossing road (24) High water reported by resident at 204 Nixon. (25) High water reported by resident at 202 Winding Hollow (Charlotte Newbille); Creek out of banks. (26) High water reported by resident at 250 Winding Hollow; Creek out of banks.
