We are recommending that you authorize us to retain DeShazo, Starek & Tang to assist us with this project in an amount not to exceed $5,800. Our city Engineer recommends that we begin to diversify some of our engineering projects and therefore has recommended this firm instead of Ginn, Inc. March 22, 1989 MEMORANDUM TO: FROM: RE: CAPITAL PROJECTS WHICH MAY BE FUNDED FROM BALANCE OF CAPITAL FUNDS (CONTINUED ITEM FROM DECEMBER 15, 1988 CITY COUNCIL AGENDA) Originally, per my attached memo dated February 7, 1989, we were recommending Southwestern Blvd. overlays be deferred for this priority item. However, since Public Works staff developed with Dallas County the same overlays at reduced costs, we recommend part of the remaining funds be used for this study and engineering of this local flooding problem. We will cause the study and engineering to be done and then take bids returning to the City Council to award a contract for the construction of the remedial work needed to improve this situation.
