Test Proccdmes
Each section of sewer shall be t.ested between successivl.: mnttholes.
Air shall be introduced into the pipeline until. 4.0 psi gauge pressure has been reached. At that litne the
flow of air shalt be reduced and the intemul air pressure shall be maintained between 3.5 and 4.5 psi
ga.uge for a.t least two (2) minutes 1.0 allow the air temperature to COme to equilibrium with the
temperature ofthe pipe walls_ llressurc in the pipe shall be constantly It\onitored by a gauge and hose
arrangement separate from tht: hose used to intToouce ai.r into the line. Pressure in the pipe shall not be
allowed to exceed 5 psi.
Atler the temperature has stabilized and no air leaks flt the plugs have been found, the ail' pressure shall
be used to determine that time lapse required for the air pressun: to drop to 2.5 psi ga.1lge.
If the time lapse required for the air pressure to decrease from 3.5 to 2.5 psi. exceeds that shown in the
following table, the pipe shall be presumed to be within acceptable limits for leakage.
If the time lapsed is l.ess than that shown in the table, the contractor shall make corrections to reduce the
leakage tt1 acceptable limits.
