RE: Coppell Road, Project #ST 00-03
Project Update
Dear Coppell Resident:
This letter is intended to provide an update on the construction of South Coppell Road. As you
know, construction began during the first part of June. So far the contractor has installed
approximately 3,800 feet of new 12" water line and 1,300 feet of storm drainage pipe. Also, the
various utility companies have made progress on relocating their utility lines throughout the
project.
Within the next two to three weeks, we expect the contractor to begin the process of removing the
existing asphalt driving surface and excavating the roadway to the rough proposed grade. This will
be done one side at a time in order to maintain traffic flow. I want to take this opportunity to
remind everyone that Coppell Road has been designated as one way by the City of Coppell, and
driving the wrong way, even for short distances, is a violation which will result in a traffic citation,
or even worse, an accident.
The city has coordinated with Wilson Elementary for the beginning of the school year. We will be
assisting with traffic issues as they arise, and we have committed to maintain a walking path for
those students that walk to school. Please keep in mind that school traffic will cause delays
between 7:30 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. and between 2:30 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. weekdays.
The contract time for this project runs through June 2009. We have included incentives in the
contract for early completion.
Albert Samaniego is the construction inspector on this project. Albert can be reached at 469-576-
1458. If you would like more information on this project, please feel free to call me at 972-304-
3681.
Sincerely,
K ~~
