RE: Moore Road Drainage Project DR 93-03
Dear Mr. Lock. hart:
The City of Coppell has again advertised the Moore Road Drainage Project for bid. Ten bids
were received on May 2, 1996. The bids ranged from $316,908 to $515,197. With this letter
I have included a Bid Tabulation which shows the apparent low bidder as M-Co Construction,
Inc. out of North Richland Hills. In accordance with the Drainage and Escrow Agreement, the
City is responsible for S130,000 of the total project cost and the owner is responsible for the
balance. In 1993 there was an initial payment of $138,151.50. With interest that amount is now
$151,833.57. Based on the bid submitted by M-Co Construction and the current value of the
initial deposit, there is still a short fall of S35,074.43. To expedite this project, the City
requests that a check in the amount of $35,074.43 be provided to the City no later than May 21,
1996 so that this project can be processed to Council for award on May 28, 1996. The City is
negotiating a temporary construction easement to tie the drainage facilities into the existing lake
at the southeast coruer of Moore Road and Parkway Blvd. If that easement cannot be secured
during the week of May 13, 1996, then this project cannot go to Council to be awarded until
June 11, 1996. If the project is delayed until June I1, then the $35,074.43 is not requh'ed to
be paid until June 4, 1996.
