RE: Moore Road Drainage Improvements Project DR 93-03
Dear Ms. Harris:
Thanlc you for talcing the time to contact me today concerning our project, i apologize for any'
inconvenience that the contractors may have caused in t~'ing to determine the approach to their
bid for this project. Enclosed is a cop?' of the construction plans. On Sheet 2, I have
highlighted an area which shows the connection of a proposed 48" reinforced concrete pipe into
the existing headwall. To accomplish this worlc the contractor selected by the Ci~' will need to
drain the lake and/or build some ~'pe of coffer dam. A coffer dam is a temporary, structure to
dry up the area around the headwall to allow construct to talce place. As stated in our
conversation, any water to be placed baclc into this lalce will be done so at the contractor's
expense. The City is very much aware of the existing landscaping between Moore Road and
this headwall and has specifically' included a bid item in our contract to ensure that the contractor
replaces that landscaping to preconstruction conditions. This will include any grass, irrigation.
slwubs, etc.
As stated in our conversation, our research indicated that acting under the authori~- of l-lar~ '
Hargrave, Parks of Coppell retained ownership of this lalce. I did speak with Mr. Hargrave and
it was also his understating that one of his companies did still retain ownership of the lake and
it was only being leased to Columbus Realty. Once you have had an opportuni~ to investigate
ownership of ~e lal~e and review the enclosed plans, please feel free to contact me so that we
can set up a time to discuss this project in greater detail. It is our hope that we can work
together to complete this project.
