I agree that the issue is really time based and" it is a problem in the morning hours from 7am - 9am M - F. I don't expect this to be a problem when construction first begins but it will be a problem when school starts in the fall. Right now we are experiencing small delays turning left in the morning but with the possible increase in traffic when Southbound Coppell Rd is closed it might increase the delays we are experiencing. Once Coppell Rd is finished the problem should lesson as normal traffic patters return. Thanks for the follow up. We will investigate the intersection so we can fully understand the problem. I have placed "No Right Turn on Red" signs in another city and they were largely ignored. However, the Texas Traffic Law does allow cities to restrict right turn on red by the placement of signs. After we have observed the issue in the field, we will be better prepared to take an ordinance to Council for their approval to restrict right turn on red for south bound Coppell Rd. My thoughts are that the restriction should probably be from 7 am to 9 am M-F. Because you are subjected to this daily, I would like your input on the time of day and days of the week restriction. Thanks for your attendance at the meeting and interest in the Coppell Rd. project. We were expecting a larger turnout (we sent 1600 notices) but we were very pleased with the question and answer period at the end of the meeting. If you have any other questions or concerns please contact me at your convenience. Ken Griffin, P. E. Director of Engineering & Public Works 972-304-3686 kgriffin@ci.coppell.tx.us
