All Gasketed Sewer Fittings 4' through 15' shall be molded and comply with ASTM F1336 and 03034 standards. All fittings shall be
manufactured from a high molecular weight compound having a minimum cell classification of 12454 or 13343 per ASTM
01784. All molded Wyes, T-Wyes and Tees must be a minimum of a SDR26 thickness where the branch connects to the body
of the fitting. In addition, all outlets 4' through 6' service branches and bells must have a minimum of a SDR26 thickness.
Materials used for gaskets must conform to the requirements of ASTM F4n or F913. All fittings must be manufactured with a
locked-in gasket having a durometer rating of 45. These fittings must be third party certified to CSA B182.1 and/or CSA B182.2.

branches. All 4' through 6' service branches must be a minimum of SDR26 wall thickness. The fittings must conform to
ASTM F1336,and F679 standards. All fittings shall be third party certified to CSA B182.1 and/or CSA B182.2

4' to 8' ClOD gasketed sewer tees, couplings, elbows, plugs and reducers shall conform to AWWA C907 and be third party certified to CSA
B137.2. They shall be UL listed and FM approved. All other configurations must have a minimum DR18 wall thickness. DR18 fittings
shall be made from a compound with a minimum cell classification of 12454 per ASTM 01784. The compound must have a
minimum Hydrostatic Design Basis.of 4,000 psi and must be listed with the National Sanitation Foundation.
'Fabricated ClOD fittings shall be made from segments of DR18 AWWA C900 or C905 pipe bonded together and over-wrapped
with fibreglass-reinforced polyester. The pipe stock used to manufacture the fittings must be third party certified to CSA B137.3
and conform to AWWA C900lC905.

The PVC Stargrip Mechanical Joint Restraint System is a unique product with a proven design that provides an
exceptional restraining system for mechanical joint fittings (A WW A 153 or C II 0), valves, fire hydrants and all
classes ofPVC pipe.
FEATURES AND ADVANTAGES
. The design has been proven in the market since 1992.
.. Can be used on C900 or IPS PVC Pipe.
· Gland is made from high strength Ductile Iron per ASTMA536 Grade 65-45-12 and is compatible
with all Mechanical Joints Conforming toANSII A WWA CIIl/ A21.11.

. Listed with Underwriters Laboratories and approved by Factory Mutual Research for sizes 3 "-12".

Series IBR In-Building Risers are used to connect the main fire supply to
the building overhead fire system. The fitting passes under the foundation
without Joints and extends up through the floor. Provided with instal/ation
tabs, the unit has a CIPS (Cast Iron Pipe Size) coupler for easy connec-
tion to the underground supply (AWWA C900 PVC and Ductile Iron Pipe)
and industry standard grooved-end connection (AWWA C606) on the
building side for easy connection to the overhead fire sprinkler system.
Ames In-Building Risers are precision engineered and manufactured to

associated with field assembly. In accordance with NFPA-24, the UUFM

. Easily installed, with gaske~ between standard class 125 flanges.
. Only one sel of flange studs is needed.
. May be installed in both horizontal and vertical lines with upward flow.
Twin Disc Check Valves can be installed horizontally or in the vertical
position with flow up.
CAUTION: For horizontal flow applications. the valve must be installed willi diSC
hinge pin in the vertical position to insure proper operation.

Suggested Specification
System: PVC Schedule 40 Pressure Pipe and Fitting System
Scope: This specification covers PVC Schedule 40 pipe and fittings for pressure applications.
This system is intended for pressure applications where the operating temperatul'e will
not exceed 140oF.
Specification: Pipe and fittings shall be manufactured from virgin rigid PVC (polyvinyl chloride) vinyl
compounds with a Cell Class of 12454 as identified in ASTM D 1784.
PVC Schedule 40 pipe shall be Iron Pipe Size (l PS) conforming to ASTM D 1785. PVC
Schedule 40 fittings shall conform to ASTM D 2466. Pipe and fittings shall be
manufactured as a system and be the product of one manufacturer. All pipe and fittings
shall be manufactured in the United States. Pipe and fittings shall conform to National
Sanitation Foundation (N S F) Standard 61 or the health effects portion of N S F Standard
14.

Installation shall comply with the latest installation instructions published by Charlotte
Pipe and Foundry and shall conform to all local plumbing, building, and fire code
requirements. Solvent cement joints shall be made in a two step process with primer
manufactured for thermoplastic piping systems and solvent cement conforming to ASTM
D 2564. The system shall be protected from chemical agents, fire stopping materials,
thread sealant, plasticized vinyl products, or other aggressive chemical agents not
compatible with PVC compounds. Systems shall be hydrostatically tested after
installation. Testing with compressed air or gas is not recommended.
