ay Pump Station - Pump Number 4
600 HP GE Motor
Dear Mr. Hollowell:
As discussed in our meeting at the job site on Monday, May 15, 2000 we have received additional data
intended to verify the condition of the G.E. supplied 600 HP motor for Pump Number 4 at the Village
Parkway Pump Station. AUI General Contractors has supplied data to support the production dates for the
motor, factory testing conducted, an explanation of the model number and serial numbering system, a log of
the motor shipments and a work order report from Shermco Industries, Inc.
Based on our review of this supplemental data, it appears the motor we observed at the job site is in fact the
600 HP motor produced at the GE Industrial Systems plant in Owensboro, Kentucky between the dates of
January 19, 2000 and February 23, 2000. Further, the motor appears to have been ordered specifically for this
addition to the Village Parkway Pump Station. We are enclosing copies of the additional information we
received for your review and records. We recommend the City allow the contractor to proceed with the
installation and testing of the pump and motor and accept it contingent upon satisfactory performance in the
field.
We are available to discuss this project further at your convenience.

In response to ~o owner md engineers request for a chrcmology of events as ~ey pertain to thc
modifications performed on the GE Motor for the above subject project please find the requested
informatitm below.
1. OsHnNatimreceivedword~,0mAT. HcmApd[21,2000, that the co~duit box on the GE Motor

2. On April 24, 2000, Oslin Nation contacted GE Supply and advised OES of the situation and GES
informed Oslin Nation the Motor should be sent to 8hermoo hdustries in ~ the OE warranty
service center, to have the etmduit box location changed. Odin Nation then contacted C & P ·
Pump Services in Grand Prairie to schedule pick-up of the Motor at the jotsire and delivery to
Sh~,.~co.
3. The Motor was picked-up and delivered to IShermco by C & P Services on April 25, 2000.
4. On April 27, 2000, Shermco advised Odin Nation the Motor modifications and required testing
(See AtUwltments) were compl~_-d_ and was ready to be r~ttLrned to the jobsite. 0slin Nation then
scheduled pick-up and delivery of the Motor to the VH!aBe Parkway jobsite.
5. The Motor was picked-up and delivered back to the Jobsite on April 27, 2000.
In an effort to bring this matter to a conclusion and not delay ~e project completion you will see I have
attached the letter of reslxmse ~om OE Supply the Shermco repair and test report along with the OB data
pack for Motor m/n 5KSS13AN389M which includes a Motor _a~__+,_ sheet, Motor p~rfot-~ance data with
speed-torqudcurrent curve, stator frame machining print, and cerlified print for the Motor in question. I
would abo advis~ all lmrties privy to this information that it is proprietary and should be treated as such.

Re: City of Coppell
Addition of Pump Number 4 to the Village Parkway Pump Station
We are in receipt of your letter dated May 23, 2000 concerning the cost of the corrections to the piping
system adjacent to the recently installed butterfly valves at the Village Parkway Pump Station. As we have
discussed over the telephone, we are of the opinion that the City of Coppell bears no responsibility for the
extra work required to implement these corrections. After reviewing the project specifications, we find the
30-inch piping system should have been supplied and installed with the inside diameter of the pipe being 30-
inches in diameter. Your shop drawings indicate the pipe is measured using the outside diameter rather than
the inside diameter. As such, all cost associated with corrections to the 30-inch piping shall be borne by you.
For the corrections to the 20-inch piping, Shimek, Jacobs & Finklea, L.L.P. hereby agrees to cover the cost
associated with the necessary modifications. We offer no objections to the estimated cost outlined in your
letter; however, since there is some shared responsibility in the modifications, we propose you eliminate the
line item for overhead and profit. In addition, based on our discussions with you today, we understand the
time required to complete the modifications may be as little as one-half of your original estimate. Please
provide verification of crew hours, materials and equipment when submitting your invoice to our office.
As stated in our letter dated May 22, 2000, we recommend the 24-inch valves be tested for leaks and a report
made back to us prior to finalizing the scope of work required on these valves.
If you have any questions or need additional clarification, please do not hesitate to contact this office.
