Due to the proximity of this site to the Royal Lane overpass on IH-635, the lack of visibility of the facility
from the roadway and subsequent customers, the speed of the traffic, the distance to the exit ramps
serving Royal Lane and the lack of brand identity sign age, Victron Energy has experienced less than
expected sales in this location. As such, Victron Energy respectfully requests approval by the City of
Coppell to add sign age to the existing Shell fuel station and convenience store as follows:
· Raise the existing tower element of the building eight feet (8') with similar bUilding materials
· Add two internally illuminated Shell logo signs on the tower, the signs will be recessed into the
tower element and surrounded by the stone fac;ade to provide a flush installation of the sign
into the fac;ade, the signs shall be 8'x8' in size for visibility from the roadway
· Add one "Shell" sign on the canopy with internally illuminated channel letters , red in color
consistent with the Shell corporate brand image
· Paint the existing fuel canopy yellow and add a red vinyl band consistent with the Shell
corporate brand image
To facilitate these changes, the requested modifications to the PO ordinance for this development are as
follows:
· Allow a total of 64 square feet of internally illuminated sign age on the back of the tower
element (east side), visible from IH-635, to consist of one color logo
· Allow the existing signage on the IH-635 side of the building (north side) of 31 square feet to
remain
· Allow a total of 117 square feet of signage on the Royal Lane side of the building (west side) to
consist of 53 square feet of existing signage and a 64 square foot internally illuminated color
logo
· Allow the installation of internally illuminated red channel letters on the canopy totaling 19
square feet
· Allow the painting of the canopy yellow with a red stripe
