GRAPEVINE - Drivers on State Highway 121 are back in the fast lane this weekend thanks to two
new overpasses.
Work is now complete on highway lanes that bypass traffic lights at the intersections of Grapevine Mills
Boulevard and Freeport Parkway. The northbound lanes opened on Saturday; Texas Department of
Transportation workers were expected to open the southbound lanes on Sunday.
The freeway update gives motorists a non-stop route between Frisco and the north entrance to
DallaslFort Worth International Airport.
More than 121,000 vehicles pass through the area every day, and the extra lanes are expected to provide
welcome relief to rush hour commuters and to motorists at other times of the day.
While Highway 121 turns into a toll road just north of the new overpasses, the stretch of new road is a
freeway.
