Heartz Road the planning commission will meet 7 p.m. Thursday to make a decision. The Manara Academy, which trying to establish the charter school, will offer Arabic and French classes as well as expeditionary learning and a hands-on approach to education. Problems arose after residents brought forth traffic and safety issues to the commission. "The case was continued by the planning commis- sion last month because of a number of citizens who raised some questions in regards to safety," said Gary Sieb. director of planning, "Specifically transportation was addressed, and how to get in and out of the project and how to refrain from congestion on the streets." Last month, the planning commission took the issue under advisement and asked the applicants to do a traf- fic study. "The Manara people have submitted a rather com- prehensive traffic study," Sieb said. "We are reviewing it and will have a recommendation to the planning committee this Thursday." According to the 98-page traffic study, to be present'" ed by Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc., student dropoffs would begin at 8 am. and pickup time would be at 3:30 p.m. According to the report, Heartz Road has not shown a significant change in traffic volume since at least: 1999.
