REQUEST FOR WATERING VARIANCE

DAIL y WATER CONSERVATION PLAN
ORDINANCE NO. 2005-1096 (amended in part by Ordinance No. 2007-1162)
Variances may be granted to persons establishing new lawns or landscaping.
All variances must be submitted in writing to the Asst. Director of Public Works, 816 S. Coppell
Rd., Coppell, TX 75019. For questions concerning variance requests call the Utility Division of
Public Works at 972/462-5155 or the Engineering Dept. at 972/304-3679.
When all information has been provided, variance request will be reviewed and returned to requestor.

6.7 Variances
1 The CIty Manager, or hIs/her desIgnee, may, m wntmg, grant vanances for water uses
to estabhsh new lawns or landscapmg otherwIse prohibIted under thIS Plan under Stage
1 or 2, as provIded herem.
Persons requestmg a varIance from the provIsIOns of thIS Plan shall file a request wIth
the CIty of Coppell to be revIewed by the CIty Manager, or hIs/her desIgnee, and shall
mclude the followmg:
a) Name and address of the petItIOner(s)
b) Purpose of water use (only consIderatIOn wIll be for new lawns or landscapmg)
c) Detailed statement as to how the Plan adversely affects the petItIOner or what
damage or harm wIll occur to the petItIoner or others If petItIoner comphes wIth
thIS Ordmance
d) Penod of tIme for whIch the vanance IS sought.
e) Other pertment mformatIon.
2 Vanance may be granted to persons under condItIons cntena establIshed herem whIle
on vacatIOn m the event that power failures or other acts beyond theIr control cause
ImgatIOn systems to malfunctIOn and water on the wrong day A vacatIOn vanance
shall meet the followmg:
a) A maXImum two week penod.
b) Request consIdered only dunng Stage 1, 2 or 3
3 Vanances granted by the CIty of Coppell shall be subject to the folloWIng condItIons,
unless waived or modIfied by the CIty Manager or hIs/her desIgnee
a) Vanances granted shall mclude a tImetable for complIance
b) Vanances WIll only be consIdered If the City IS In Stage 1 or 2 (or Stage 3 for a
vacatIon vanance)
c) All vanance forms shall be prommently dIsplayed near the front door
d) Any vanance may be revoked If condItIOns worsen.
e) Vanances shall expIre when the Plan IS no longer In effect.
f) No vanance shall be retroactIve or otherwIse JustIfy any vIOlatIOn of thIS Plan
occumng pnor to the Issuance of the vanance.
