Seib, I spoke with Gavj Sims today about the tree that was removed on the project just North of the Sonic on Denton Tap Road. He gave me a photo of the tree and asked that I follow up with a memo, and a value for the tree. The tree is a mature Eastern Red Cedar, it appears to be about 8" in caliper. This is a native tree that is not available in nurseries in such a large size. I would recommend the tree be replaced with a 4" caliper Austrian Pine (Pinus nigra), and have the owner pay reparation in the amount orS100 per inch for the remaining 4". Ifa 4" Austrian Pine cannot be located, Leyland Cypress would be an option. To my knowledge both kinds of tree are readily available in Texas nurseries.
