Dear Bill:
re: Grand Car Wash
We have received a citizen complaint regarding the signs at Grand Car Wash extending above
the parapet wall. The concern was raised again last night at the Planning and Zoning
Commission meeting.
Drawings follow which indicate to me that your design intended that the parapet wall was to rise
up in a semi-circular shape behind each of the two circular signs in question. However, that is
not what the contractor has installed, nor is it what is in place at the Alexis facility.
My suggestion is that, at a bare minimum, the metal coping which caps the parapet be extended
around the top of each sign as shown on your drawings. The coping needs to have a horizontal
width of approximately 12 inches as shown on your drawings. The fact that there may be no
brick actually behind the top half of the sign, in my estimation, is not critical since no one will
see it anyway.
Would you please respond to this concern and let me know what action will be taken?
Sincerely,
Pert Virtanen
