District, #057-922, met in a special session on May 8, 1989,
at 7:30 P.M. in the board room of the administration building.
The meeting was called to order by President Judi Baggett.
Members present: Judi Baggett, President; Lannie Jackson,
Vice-President; Roy Brock, Assistant Secretary; Foy Layton;
Dr. Royce Lively; Ralph Seeley; Barb Schmidt; Brenda Vannatta,
Board Secretary; and Vonita White, Superintendent.
Staff present: Mickey Harper, Karen House, Deby Nelson
Visitors recognized: Paula Lavelle, Donna Jackson, Deena Reeve,
Mike Clements, Jackie Joyner, Chris Vannatta, Alan Grooms, Cindy'
Brown, Jim Skinner, Glen Inderman, Peter Lockwood, Mark Fichtner,
Linda Burke, Karrie Kienzle, Kathy Clements, Jean Murph, and Ed
Reeve.
Due to a request for a recount in Place 1 and Place 3 of the May
6, 1989, election, the returns in Place 1 and 3 were manual count
votes and returns in Place 2 were votes reported by the election
judge (the recount was held at 5:00 P.M. on May 8, 1989). After
the election results were canvassed, Dr. Royce Lively made a motion
to approve the election returns (see attached results). Ralph
Seeley seconded the motion. The motion carried 7-0. Total votes
cast 1918.

President Judi Baggett presented plaques to Ralph Seeley and Royce
E. Lively for their years of service on the Board.
Brenda Vannatta, Board Secretary and Notary Public, administered
the Oath of Office to Lannie Jackson, Deena Reeve, and Mike
Clements.

Nominations were taken for President of the Coppell I.S.D. Board
of Trustees. Roy Brock nominated Judi Baggett. Foy Layton
seconded the motion. Barb Schmidt made a motion that nominations
cease. Roy Brock seconded the motion that nominations cease. The
motion that nominations cease carried 7-0. There being no other
nominations, the motion to elect Judi Baggett President carried
6-0-1 (Judi Baggett).
Roy Brock made a motion to elect Lannie Jackson as Vice-President.
Mike Clements seconded the motion. There being no other
nominations, the motion carried 7-0.
Roy Brock made a motion to reappoint Brenda Vannatta as Board
Secretary. Foy Layton seconded the motion. The motion carried 7-0.
Lannie Jackson made a motion to elect Roy Brock as Assistant
Secretary. Barb Schmidt seconded the motion. There being no
other nominations the motion carried 7-0.
The Board reviewed tractor bids as presented to determine the best
bid. Barb Schmidt made a motion to accept the seconded lowest bid
of $16,100 from McMaster Ford Tractor Co., as recommended (lowest
bid could not deliver tractor until August, 1989). Foy Layton
seconded the motion. The motion carried 7-0.
Foy Layton made a motion to dedicate a 24-foot wide strip of land
between our property and Denton Tap Road to the City of Coppell as
a street right-of-way, the dedicated road will be on the final plat.
Lannie Jackson seconded the motion. The motion carried 7-0.
Barb Schmidt made a motion to add an additional Pre-first teacher
for 1989-90. Lannie Jackson seconded the motion. The motion
carried 7-0.
At 8:06 P.M. President Judi Baggett declared the Board in
executive session to consider personnel matters as allowed by
Article 6252-17, Section 2(g).
At 8:50 P.M. President Baggett declared the Board in open session.
There was no action taken on personnel matters.
At 8:51 P.M. Foy Layton made a motion to adjourn. Roy Brock
seconded the motion. The motion carried 7-0.
