Dear Gary:
At the Planning and Zoning Commission meeting held on August 20, 1992, the preliminary plat for the above
referenced subdivision was unanimously approved. Although the controlled access concept found favor with
the Commissioners, they were not agreeable to having the streets maintained by the City. Since the
subdivision ordinance does not allow for platted lots without access to a public street, we must ask for a
variance to allow for private streets within the development.
We would propose to construct the streets to City standards. We will also provide ready acc, ess to the
development for City personnel and franchise utility companies.
We know that we are breaking new ground with this request. We also realize that you have a personal
aversion to private streets. However, our builders view the ability to have controlled access as crucial to their
ability too create the kind of high end neighborhood we plan. We trust that the addition of this high quality
development to the City will outweigh any negative aspects of our proposal.
