Dear Sir:
Univest Development Company is actively marketing a number of tracts and
hereby requests a variance to the Coppell Sign Ordinance Section 10-5-6
which prohibits the use of signs which move. We request permission to
install a limited number of temporary flag poles approximately 18 feet
tall with 3'x 5' attractively colored flags attached. One set of flags
will be located in front of Highland Meadow Addition at the intersection
of Highland Meadow Circle and Sandy Lake Road adjacent to the attractive
brick subdivision wall. Another set of flags will be located at both
east and west entrances to the Park Meadow Addition along Parkway Blvd.
Univest would request a time limit of one year for such flags at which
time the poles would be removed.
Our research indicates the most successful method of attracting the atten-
tion of prospective home purchasers, and future tax paying citizens of
Coppell, is the use of such flags along major thoroughfares. Because of
the limited frontage of the Highland Meadow addition, we fell such flags
are necessary to make a high impact in a short space and time and to draw
people into the subdivision.
Similarly, we feel Parkway Blvd. is not yet a major access route through
the city, and it is therefore necessary to attract greater attention to
the new developments in this area by creating higher interest. We feel
the flags requested in this variance will add a great deal to our mar-
keting effort being carried out in conjunction with the home builders.
We would request your approval of this request.
Respectfully submitted,
Christopher T. Chisholm
