Re:
Parkway Blvd. (West)
Final Plat
DRC - Engineering
Dear Taryon:
To supplement our comments of January 6, 1989 and
clarification purposes, we offer the following comments.
for
The full width of Parkway Blvd. (West) from Denton Tap Road to
the new Coppell High School access drive needs to be constructed
at this time. This was discussed by the DRC staff at the first
DRC meeting when staff considered the final plat. This shall
result in 4 lanes being constructed at this time.
The concerns the DRC staff has regarding this issue are:
Signalization of this intersection shall be warranted once
Parkway Blvd. (West) is open for traffic due to the
increase in peak hour traffic volume when school starts.
This cannot be accomplished in a safe and efficient manner
with only a half street constructed.
The planned median nose on the south side of this
intersection, on the Denton Tap Road CIP project, will not
accommodate left-turn movement onto the south half of
Parkway Blvd. without a vehicle riding over the median curb.
This is due to the tight turn radius required to complete a
left turn movement in this 1/2 street situation.
Anticipated traffic volumes both at peak hours and during
special events requires a full width street.
In lieu of the above factors, it is the DRC's position that
public safety with smooth and efficient traffic flow can only be
obtained by construction of the full street width at this time.
