STF.REPORT/FORM PZAGN2 I T EM 6 CITY MANAGER MEMORANDUM March 3, 1988 TO: Jackie Mayfield, Fire Chief ~ FROM: Dale Sackson, Building Official~ RE: Metal Awning at Woodside Village In September of 1987 Connell Development submitted architecttwal plans of the Woodside Village shopping center in order to obtain a building permit. The plans indicated a metal awning was to be attached to the front of the building. The building permit was denied because of eight items. The first reason for denial of the permit was that metal roofs are not allowed. Connell Development was informed that the metal awning was in violation of the metal roof ordinance and that the awning would have to be deleted or the metal material would have to be changed to an approved material. The plans were changed to show that the material for the awning would be asphalt shingles or other material approved by the city. I spoke with Jim Connell today and informed him of the concern that has been created by the colored rendering of the Woodside Village shopping center that was included in the Special Use l~ermit request for Goodyear. Mr. Connell has informed me that the metal awnings shown in the rendering have been revised and will be composed of asphalt shingles or other material approved by the city.
