Subject: Hotel signage
Hello,
I read in the Advocate about the council meeting in which the La Quinta and Ho1 I e2Suites site plans were up
for approval.
I agree with the P & Z. I have lived in Coppell for 30 years and I like the way the city looks and that is because
of our P & Z ordinances.
I was driving down Highway 121 today from McKinney to Coppell today. I can tell you from observing that
McKinney, Frisco and Carrollton have strict sign ordinances and The Colony and Lewisville do not.
The difference in visual clutter is very clear.
Furthermore, I would bet that more than 90% of hotel guests book their hotels online and a sign visible from
the highway makes little difference in hotel bookings.
I am glad that at least you did not allow the digital signage.
Just wanted to add my opinion on the matter. I would like to see the council continue to pay attention to the
ordinances that we have in place. I guess I should have paid more attention and attended the meeting.
I am very happy with Coppell in general and find the city and the council very responsive to the citizens.
Thank you,
Patti Simonds
