Memo re change to facadeTO: ,r~t' Greg Jones, Building Official
FROM:~' Gary L. Sieb, Director
SUBJECT: White Glove Site Plan--Zoning Case S1074R
DATE: October 15, 1997
I had a visit this morning from Lenny Poulsen, a White Glove Express owner, who asked that
I review what he considered a minor change to the site plan for the expansion proposed on the
east side of his property. As you know, Council has approved a detail/oil change facility
adjacent to the existing car wash. when the elevations of the new building were submitted for
site plan approval, the front of the building was shown to contain a large expanse of glass
window, and two glass entry doors. In my conversation with Mr. Poulsen, he showed me a
revised elevation (copy attached) which depicts a completely blank buiMing front, composed of
brick with split face base. The signage shown complies with the original submittal.
Based upon the provisions of Section 39 of the Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance, I agree that
this change is a minor alteration to the approved site plan--it is a minor adjustment of the
building configuration--and I would urge you to release a building permit, subject to all other
pertinent ordinances of the City of Coppell. I base my opinion on the above information and
would point out that the solid masonry brick wall is more attractive than the glass initially
proposed, brick compliments the existing building, it furthers the objectives of our streetscape
plan, and advances the objectives of our primary image zone which encourages brick and natural
material building forms wherever possible.
