Mr. Travis Crump
Fire Marshal (Acting)
City of Coppeil Fire Department
Cappeli, Texas 75019
R e: Coppell Measuring Station, S- 1117
Dear Mr. Crump
l-one Star Pipeline Co. has applied for a special use permit to install a natural gas measuring
station approximate(V 700feet west of MaeArthur on the north side of Belt Line. One of the staff
comments from the Fire Department requires a fire lane to the site. Lone Star requests that the
requirement be waived based on the following:
- gFith a masonry screen surrounding the facility there is nothing flammable onsite with
the exception of natural gas.
- Should a leak occur and the gas ignite, theftre cannot be extinguished with water. It
must be smothered or allowed to burn itself out after appropriate valves are clasetL
- Within a matter of months the owner/developer of the property wilipave and install
f'we lanes along with other development as it occurs. Expenses such as this are more
appropriately born by the developer rather than the rate payer.
- This facility is isoiatedfrom other buildings which are effher residential or commercial
therefore not creating any hazard requiring protection for either.
Lone Star Pipeline believes, based on the above, that the public is adequately protected from any
hazard which may be associated with the facility and respectively requests the fire lane
requirement be waived pending further development of the property.
Respec~u~
