RE: Special Use Permit Request for a Telecommunications Facility
Nextel Site No. TXO 168B-Grapevine Lake
Dear Mr. Vertanen:
Enclosed please find a Zoning Application requesting approval for a Special Use Permit (SUP).
The SUP approval request is to construct a telecommunications facility within a Light Industrial
District. The site will be located north of State Road & Sandy Lake Road and southeast of State
Highway 121. This property is owned by Mr. William F. Callejo, Trustee.
The application submitted consist of a 50' x 50' lease space approximately 1300' north from
Sandy Lake Road & State Road and 1800' southeast of State Highway 121. The site will hold a
120' monopole tower with three (3), 15 foot whip antennas attached and a 10' x 20' x 10'
prefabricated equipment building. A site plan is enclosed with the necessary zoning information.
According to my records Alan Haggard, Zoning Manager met with Gary Sieb, Director of
Planning, to discuss the exact location of this site. Mr. Sieb stated that proposed thoroughfares
could pass through Callejo's property in the future, and that the site could possibly change its
location. Mr. Sieb recommended that we eventually move our antennas to the proposed water
tower.
Nextel is now proposing to locate on Callejo's property for five (5) years and then collocate the
antennas on the cities water tower. I would like to ask the Planning Department to review our
case and see if any changes need to be made to accommodate both parties. It would be helpful to
accomplish this before the Technical Review Meeting on April 3, 1997.
This site is not an additional site to CASE NO. S-1124R (Esteve property). This site is being
submitted in case of unknown complications of CASE NO. S-1124R that would end in a denial.
Nextel has required that sites be handled in such a manner due to timely deadlines. The
possibility of CASE NO. S-1124R being approved would cause this site to be withdrawn from
the next agenda.
